Healthcare Employers

The Informa CE can save time and resources in a variety of clinical settings:

  • Hospitals
  • Home Health Care
  • Nursing Homes
  • Assisted Living
  • Residential Care
  • Outpatient Clinics
  • Adult Day Services

Instead of interrupting their busy schedule, staff can read the journal and complete the post-test online from work, home or library at a time convenient for them.   Articles are also available in printable versions.

More than the typical Web-based training, the Informa CE can be used by both individuals and staff development educators.   The articles adapt well to group instruction and the case studies are an excellent foundation for instructor-led discussion groups.

Our approach is to reach beyond objective facts and inject a strong sense of caring, kindness and respect for older adults into the educational content.

CORPORATE SUBSCRIPTIONS

Informa Health is dedicated to improving healthcare quality for older adults by providing continuing geriatric education for the healthcare professionals who care for them.

We have priced subscriptions very affordably and organized the process to help you optimize your purchase and offer geriatric education to all your employees, whether they provide direct or indirect care to older adults.

When you purchase a subscription, you are licensed to make the Informa CE available to employed in your facility, agency or clinic.

Frequently Asked Questions for Employers

Below are some common questions and answers about our online journal.   If you have any additional questions, please call us at 888-264-4767 or send an email to custserv@informahealth.com

Q: What is included in the price of a corporate subscription?

A: Corporate subscriptions include:

  • The CEs for each issue, a total of 9 CEs per year for each staff member who chooses to take the post-test
  • Access reports, which give you detailed information about your readers
  • Access to archived issues

Q: How is the Informa CE different from Web sites offering continuing education contact hours for healthcare professionals?

A: Informa CE is the only online peer-reviewed journal written exclusively for nurses and other healthcare professionals who care for older adults.

  • All articles are written by qualified nurse educators and healthcare professionals with special expertise in healthcare for older adults
  • The educational material is not just a collection of unrelated articles or topics, but an organized curriculum.  We believe that in order to understand the complexity of care that older adults require, it is important to learn how the body ages normally and the multidimensional aspects of health-related problems that are common in older adults.
  • Major articles clearly relate the educational material to the day-to-day work experiences of direct care staff.
  • Informa CE also provides a support system of news about the latest research, practical advice and help for caregivers, and links to more resources.

Q: Is the Informa CE appropriate for unlicensed caregivers, as well as healthcare professionals?

A: Yes. Informa CE is professional and easy to read so all levels of direct care staff find it valuable.

Q: Do you consider the Informa CE e-learning?  How do we know if this method of delivering education is right for us?

A: Yes, we consider the Informa CE e-learning, which is instruction delivered electronically via a Web browser, such as Internet Explorer, through the Internet or an intranet.

E-learning offers flexibility, accessibility and convenience superior to traditional workshop training.  Employees can access the education at any time or day of the week from any computer with an Internet connection.

Cost and time savings: Studies indicate that in addition to saving travel costs for sending people to workshops, training by computer averages about 50% less time than that of instructor-led training, saving further money.

Many major corporations save millions of dollars each year using online learning to train employees more effectively and more efficiently than with conventional methods alone.

Considering the competitive nature of the healthcare industry today, training is an investment, not just a necessity.  Informa CE can assist your company with continuing education, either alone or in combination with instructor-led training.

Q: How can we help employees and training staff accept online learning?

A: A study by the American Society for Training & Development revealed three critical success factors in determining whether an employee will or will not accept and participate in a work-related online learning:

  • Internal Marketing.  Employees respond better when it is promoted well in advance and they feel prepared.
  • Support.  Employees value and respond to online learning when they feel they have the necessary technical and managerial support.
  • Incentives.  Employees accept online training when they can clearly see the value of what they will learn.

Q: What do we receive when we purchase a subscription to the Informa CE?

A: Informa CE is a bimonthly publication.  Every other month you will receive an e-mail announcing the availability of latest issue.  A subscription to the Informa CE includes 6 issues and the corresponding CE option.

Q: Do individual employees need an e-mail address to receive the Informa CE?

A: No, the Informa CE is accessible from the Informa Health Web site.  They can read and complete the post-test from any computer with Internet access from work, home or library.

A: Employees can go to the Informa Web site at their convenience:

A: You have 60 days to read the current issue and take the post-test online.
